C.A.L.M C.A.L.M (Confidential and Local Mediation). is an organisation to help resolve neighbour disputes by mediation. For people living in Kensington and Chelsea & Hammersmith and Fulham. All types of neighbour dispute including: Noise, damage to property, problems over Children and Animals, car parking, gardens and boundaries, certain types of offensive and abusive behaviour. Also, projects dealing specifically with disputes involving hate crime. Also have a pilot youth mediation project operating in the north of Kensington and Chelsea called the `Golborne Youth Mediation Project'. The Project works with young people and neighbours, where neighbours are making complaints. Its work currently focuses on the North Kensington area, in particular, Golborne Ward. It is co-managed by the Youth Offending Team and CALM. Its aim is to reduce the numbers of 10 - 17 year old's entering the criminal justice system. One paid worker and a team of dedicated volunteers use the special skills of mediation with parents and teenagers where communication has become difficult. The young people might be getting into trouble at school, using offensive language, or acting aggressively (the 'attitude' syndrome!). Drugs issues are usually in there somewhere, as are turbulent family histories. The mediators are trained volunteers, some of whom live and work within the Boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea & Hammersmith and Fulham.
